World famous Baba ‘T’ Amieyego Nelson is a man of many parts; He is a Grassroot mobilizer, fashionista and businessman as well as the son of the famous QuickPenny( if you don’t know, abeg ask elders) one of the richest, industrious and most fashionable Kalabari men of his era.
He is also a close friend, ally and confidant of High Chief Dumo Lulu- briggs, the colourful billionaire businessman, philanthropist and politician.
Saturday, January 20, 2024, won’t be forgotten in Abonnema in Rivers State for a while, on that day, a vibrant and exhilarating event took place as Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the esteemed leader of Oruwari War canoe group of Houses and the Iniikeoiroari VI of Kalabari kingdom, joined forces with the Amayanabo of Abonnema, HRM, King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel II, Ekineye Gbobo Owukori IX, in the traditional installation of two sons from the Opuda Otaji Georgewill family of Abonnema as Chiefs of the illustrious Kalabari Kingdom.
Baba’T’ received the esteemed traditional elevation and shall henceforth be addressed as Chief Ibitebobo Baba Nelson Amieyego Georgewill, bearing the honorable title Chief Bobiribi 1.
It is worth mentioning the overwhelming gladness and enthusiasm of the head of Opuda Otaji Georgewill and his family upon presenting Ibitebobo Baba Nelson Amieyego Georgewill to the Abonnema council of Chiefs for his installation as a Chief. They were convinced they had made a wise choice, ensuring not only prosperity for the Opuda Otaji Georgewill family but also a bright future for the Abonnema council Chiefs and the entire Kalabari Kingdom.
The occasion was an extravagant display of grandeur and merriment in the renowned ‘York City’. A multitude of family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered in Abonnema to partake in the festive and celebratory events that marked the splendid chieftaincy installation of this remarkable new Chief of the Kalabari kingdom.
In fact, the outpouring of love, joy, and pride from the attendees towards Chief Ibitebobo Baba Nelson Amieyego Georgewill was overwhelming. The beautiful people were adorned in a kaleidoscope of vibrant attire, adorned with exquisite embroideries, ornaments, and embellishments. They warmly extended their heartfelt congratulations, confident that he would bring immense value to the community and traditional institution as he embraces his role as a Chief in the Kalabari kingdom.
A source told our Reporter,
” It was a grand event. All the Port Harcourt boys and girls were in attendance and it was colourful and fun. As you know, Baba T is a people’s man and the crowd came out to honour one of its own.”
