NLC strike, National Assembly Gates Locked
Workers in the legislature who are participating in the ongoing labor union protests have taken the step of closing the gates to the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
Earlier this week, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress declared a nationwide indefinite strike, despite a court order forbidding them from doing so. This strike was prompted by an attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo State on November 1, 2023.
As of Tuesday, at 12:23 p.m., all of the gates to the National Assembly complex were found to be locked when visitors attempted to access the premises.
While plenary is still ongoing in the House of Representatives, many workers are currently unable to enter the National Assembly due to the locked gates.
