GODWIN EMIEFELE SPENDS FIRST NIGHT IN EFCC CELL
Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, spent Friday night in what promises to be a long stay in EFCC cell in Abuja. We hear a panel has been set up to investigate him.
Sources also revealed that he might have the opportunity of a meeting with the EFCC chairman at some point during his stay. We were told he will be a guest of the EFCC for a long while. Sources revealed that he has a long list of issues to explain and help unravel which could lead to the recovery of hundreds of billions of naira and hundreds of millions of dollars. Our source told us it is believed that Emiefele knows where all the skeletons are buried.
On Friday he re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) few hours after he was released from DSS custody.
Online platforms gave sketchy information but it has been confirmed that Emefiele was released by the authorities of the secret Police of the Federal Government but he was immediately re-arrested before reaching the entrance of DSS gate.
It would be recalled that the former CBN boss had been in DSS custody for several months due to allegations bothering on financing terrorism.
He was once arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, and the court granted him bail.
Presently, Emiefele enjoys zero sympathy from the Nigeria public. He was instrumental to the Naira redesign that caused untold hardship and deaths.
A businessman our reporter spoke to said he has no sympathy for the former CBN boss because he made him suffer during the naira re-design and his business is yet to recover.
We are not sure what time breakfast is served in there, but we know his big bible will keep him company.
