The Katsina Police Command has successfully foiled a suspected kidnapping attempt in Gogalo village, Jibia local government area of the state, rescuing three kidnapped victims in the process.
According to a statement released on Monday in Katsina by ASP Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, the spokesman of the command, the incident occurred on November 11 at approximately 10:46 pm.
The police received information about armed bandits, equipped with dangerous weapons, including AK-47 rifles, attacking the village and kidnapping three individuals.
Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Jibia mobilized a search and rescue team to the scene.
The team conducted a thorough search in the surrounding bushes, and by November 12 at about 6 am, they successfully tracked down the suspected kidnappers, engaging them in a gun duel.
All three kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt. The police are currently making efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.
