The Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hammeed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to former Chief of Army Staff and Nigerian High Commissioner to Benin Republic, Lt Gen Tukur Yussuf Buratai (rtd), on his appointment as Betera of Biu Emirate.
The Olowu, in a statement released by his media office, praised Buratai for his outstanding achievements as both a soldier and a diplomat, earning him recognition not just within Nigeria but also internationally.
The monarch commended Buratai’s exemplary service, noting that the dignitaries from various spheres of life who gathered at the Biu Emirate in Borno State to honor the former Army Chief testified to his stellar reputation. The appointment, which took place at the Emir of Biu’s Palace, marks a significant milestone for Buratai, who will now serve as one of the kingmakers of the emirate. This new title places him third in the hierarchy of traditional title holders in the Biu Emirate.
Among the distinguished attendees at the event were the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Kadafur, Former COAS Lt. General Farouk Yahaya, and other prominent personalities. Buratai, not only a retired military general but also an ambassador, has earned several titles, including Garkuwan Keffi, Jagunmolu of Saki land, and Bakore of Akure Kingdom. His ethical conduct and professionalism during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff earned him an Ambassadorial position, where he worked to strengthen the relationship between the Republic of Benin and Nigeria. The Olowu of Kuta emphasized the honor bestowed upon Buratai, reflecting his dedication and contributions to the nation.
