Dr. Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson, the Group Managing Director of BOVAS GROUP, is celebrating her 75th birthday, and it is truly a milestone worth celebrating. Dr. Samson has made a significant impact in the petroleum marketing sector, with her petrol stations, BOVAS, being sought after by car owners wherever they are located. For over 20 years, BOVAS has maintained a reputation for fair trade, with one gallon being exactly one gallon. Car owners are willing to queue for hours just to buy fuel from her stations because they are assured of quality and quantity. Some prefer to come another day when they are sure
BOVAS will open than risk buying sub standard fuel.
Beyond fair trade, Dr. Samson has gone the extra mile by sometimes selling fuel below the government-approved price, displaying her commitment to the well-being of the masses. Through her honesty and disdain for greed in an industry plagued by fraudulent practices, she has become a friend and champion of the people.
Dr. Mrs. Victoria Samson boasts more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked as a dealer with Texaco Nigeria Plc and Mobil Plc. Her immense knowledge and expertise earned her the distinction of being the first Nigerian to win the highly competitive Texaco Latin America West Africa (LAWA) Award for Best Overall Dealer in 1990 for the highest sales in both regions combined.
As the Matron of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for the NNPC/PPMC Satellite Depot in Ejigbo, Lagos State and Apata Depot in Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr. Samson has played a crucial role in directing the company’s operations to ensure the effective and efficient achievement of its objectives since its inception. She holds the overall responsibility for the corporate strategy and direction of the company and is highly consulted by various companies in the petroleum industry.
In addition to her responsibilities within BOVAS GROUP, Dr. Samson fosters and builds relationships with external experts and agencies, contributing to the continuous profitability and growth of the company, thus benefiting its investors.
The Bovas Group comprises BOVAS & Company Limited, which operates the BOVAS Service Stations, BOVAS Gas, BOVAS Mart, BOVAS Bulk Storage Facilities, and BOVAS Haulage. The company, established in 1980, was granted an operational license to conduct business in Nigeria. Its establishment aimed to fill the gap in the supply chain of petroleum products as both bulk breakers and retailers, while also adding value to the industry.
Operating as a self-sustaining institution in the downstream sector of the Nigerian petroleum industry, BOVAS continues to expand its reach to cover other parts of the West Coasts, other African countries, and even beyond.
Today, as we celebrate Dr. Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson’s 75th birthday, we acknowledge her remarkable contributions to the petroleum marketing sector and her dedication to ensuring fair trade and the well-being of the masses. Her impact and influence will continue to be felt in the industry for years to come, serving as an inspiration to aspiring professionals and businessmen and women alike. Happy birthday, Dr. Mrs. Victoria Adunola Samson! She certainly is one of the StoryTeller Icons for a better Nigeria.
