The All Progressives Congress (APC), United States chapter, has cautioned the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) against holding its planned press conference on the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University academic certificate.
The APC argued that Chicago State University (CSU) has already verified the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate. NADECO USA’s Publicity Secretary, David Adenekan, had previously announced the group’s intention to hold a world press conference, aiming to provide journalists and the international community an opportunity to investigate the alleged CSU certificate forgery involving the President.
In response, the Chairman of APC USA, Prof Tai Balofin, condemned NADECO’s move, considering it a smokescreen to vilify the president. Balofin emphasized that CSU had already confirmed the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate and that the matter was already in the hands of the appropriate authorities, specifically the courts, where due process and legal procedures would be followed.
Balofin clarified that the group organizing the press conference under the banner of NADECO USA is not the original NADECO that President Tinubu was a part of during the Abacha era. He urged the public not to be misled by these attempts to distort history, emphasizing that premature and unfounded allegations do a disservice to the public and risk diverting attention from pressing issues.
In conclusion, APC USA reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles and encouraged the group hiding under NADECO USA to engage in constructive dialogue and allow the legal system to address any genuine concerns regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The party emphasized its confidence in the strength of democratic processes and the judicial system to address any legitimate worries.
The controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s educational certificate continues to be a point of contention, with various groups and individuals weighing in on the matter. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how these developments will impact the political landscape.
