EDO CENTRAL ZONE AND EDO2024; WIN OR LOSE?
Dear Esteemed Leaders of Edo Central Zone,
I write to you with all sense of responsibility and deep concern for the future of our beloved Edo Central Zone, especially with regards to the upcoming gubernatorial elections in 2024. As we are all aware, the unity and cohesion of our zone are of utmost importance if we are to secure the position of the next Governor of Edo State.
It has come to my attention, and I believe to yours as well, that the current situation in our zone is unhealthy and cause for grave concern. While I would not like to be misconstrued in any way, I agree totally that everyone has right to seek for elective office. However, the proliferation of gubernatorial aspirants without a sense of cohesion and unity is a matter that requires urgent attention. It becomes worrisome that if left unaddressed, this disunity among our aspirants could lead to a loss of the gubernatorial seat to other zones in the state. I am certain that our leaders, LGA Chairmen and Executives wouldn’t want this to happen, or how else can you forgive yourselves if this was the case. It will tantamount to throwing the baby with the bath water. As a leader and an aspirant myself, I feel and take it as a duty to ensure that we take a decisive action to rectify this ugly situation or we all lose out completely. Whether we accept it or not, Edo Central is at a crossroad.
It is my firm belief that, in light of the principles of equity, justice, fairness, and inclusiveness, Edo Central is in the prime position to produce a credible, marketable, and generally acceptable candidate capable of assuming the highest office in the state. However, this can only be achieved if we, as leaders and stakeholders in our zone, come together to address the current disunity and ‘to your tent O Israel’ attitude amongst the aspirants, LGA Chairmen, and senatorial leaders.
In order to proactively address this pressing issue, I propose that all five local government areas (LGAs) Chairmen of Edo Central Zone and senatorial leaders take immediate action by inviting all gubernatorial aspirants from the zone to a crucial meeting within the shortest time possible. The meeting will serve as a platform for us to engage in candid discussions, analyze the true state of affairs, and collectively decide on the way forward. It becomes imperative that we set aside our individual ambitions and prioritize the greater good of our zone and the state as a whole.
I implore you to recognize the urgency of this matter and to mobilize the necessary resources to convene this meeting within the first or second week of December. It is only through open dialogue, mutual understanding, and unified action that we can navigate the challenges before us and truly position our zone to produce the next governor of Edo State in 2024.
I trust in the wisdom and leadership of each and every one of you, and I am confident that together, we can chart a path towards a united and formidable front that will capture the imaginations and support of our people. Let’s win this together or lose it for good.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I eagerly anticipate your prompt response and the positive actions that will follow.
Sincerely,
Paul Agbonze Obazele
