RIVERS BRIDGE INITIATIVE VISITS COMMISSIONER FOR INFORMATION IN PORT HARCOURT
The Rivers Bridge Initiative, a socio-Politicial group in Rivers State, today paid a Visit to the Rivers State Commissioner of information, Sir Joe Johnson to show solidarity for the administration of His Excellency, Gov Similaye Fubara in the light of the political crisis in the state. The delegation from Rivers Bridge was led by it’s President Mr Rufus Oba and accompanied by other executives.

2. *PURPOSE OF THE VISIT*
Our visit is part of our 2024 plans, initiating outreaches and engagements for the Build Rivers State Project. We recognize your office as a critical partner, and this visit signifies the beginning of our collaborative efforts.Rivers State holds strategic importance, and we aim to contribute as a loyal partner for Good Governance, Sustainable Peace, Welfare, and Development in the state.
*3. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF OUR BIRTH AND PURPOSE OF OUR EXISTENCE*
The birth of the Rivers Bridge Peace Initiative Organization stems from the events of October 29th and 30th, 2023. We witnessed unconstitutional attempts to impeach an elected governor and the assault on democratic symbols. Our purpose is to protect Democracy, Rule of Law, and contribute to Good Governance for the Peace and Development of Rivers State.
*5. *THE MISSION OF THIS DELEGATION*
Our delegation, representing the Board of Trustees, Executive Council, and Congress, is here to build partnerships, mobilize individuals of character, and establish a professional People’s Trust organization for Rivers State. *
*6. A FEW DEVELOPMENTS WE ARE FOLLOWING WITH INTEREST AND CONCERN*
1. Commendation for improved police response to public protests.
2. Addressing security challenges related to oil theft and youth activities.
3. Evaluating the 8-point presidential directive with a focus on constitutional principles.
4. Appreciation for the Governor’s commitment to de-escalating tension and promoting peace.
5. Recommendations for transparency in the implementation of the appropriation Act.7.
In conclusion, we assure the Governor that we are partners in promoting Rule of Law and Good Governance for the sustainable peace and development of Rivers State.
