On August 2, 2018, Senator Bukola Saraki, then President of the Senate, was appointed as the National Leader of PDP by the Party’s NEC. That was the first and only time the NEC, the highest authority of the Party after the National Convention, would appoint anyone as the National Leader of the PDP.
Since then, Saraki has been involved in EVERY electoral process of the Party irrespective of the political development. During the 2023 electoral season that saw the rise of two camps, pro-Atiku and pro-Wike, Saraki was the neutral figure. He’s was the water “wey no get enemy”.
At present, he is not the Chairman of the Party but he has been to Bayelsa and Kogi states campaigning for Senators Douye Diri and Dino Melaye, the PDP gubernatorial candidates for the Saturday elections in the two states respectively. This is despite the fact that neither of both men worked for him at the 2022 PDP Special Convention that elected the presidential candidate of the Party for the concluded 2023 poll.
Furthermore, Saraki is always available to felicitate with PDP Chieftains that achieve successes at the Tribunal and their birthdays. In short, he inspire hope, and has justified the honor bestowed on him by the NEC of PDP in August 2018.
Nigerians, especially PDP members are taking notes just like I have been doing, in due time Dr. Bukola Saraki and every other person that are contributing to the growth of the Party shall be rewarded.
