SPECIAL REPORT; What No Gree For Them This year will cause in Nigeria

If you are close to street people, there is always a slogan in vogue. Nobody can actually say how it starts, but it is widely assumed an area boy first voiced it and it sounded well to the ears and made sense…the herd followed.
Sometimes, it starts when two area boys are having an argument, usually over money. Before Now, for all of last year, the reigning slogan was, I go change am for you ooh. That means you are annoying me. You are about to see my red eyes.
It’s usually a sign that trouble or fight is around the corner. The other party is angry. When you hear that in Nigeria, despite the previous relationship, it’s better to leave and continue another day.
From the garages and slums and under the bridges of Lagos, these slangs make their way into danfo busses, schools and campuses and malls. conductors make it their sing song, and children of the rich pick it up and travel abroad with it and it becomes international.
Before you know, a smart musician will coin it into a song, and it will be a hit. Musicians know how to effectively gauge the tempo of the street.
No Gree for them this year is also another street slogan from the slums. It’s a sign of protest. One person telling the other not to permit anyone to take him for granted this year. That’s a serious matter. That slogan, like our mumu done do, coined by Charlie Boy, is a call to action.
Right now, the Nigerian police are afraid of the repercussions of people taking action based on those words. Force PRO says the words can cause crisis. He is right. Behavioral scientists in the force have done a thorough analysis of the slang and the police are advising people to be careful of No Gree for them.
This evening, I watched a short video. Two guys were fighting; a soldier and a civilian, they held each other by the neck. Another guy walked past and what did he say,
” Bro, no gree for am, na only soldier him be. Make Una fight.”
That is the boldness the slang gives people. It awakens in people something long dead, it raises the consciousness of people to the height of revolting against constituted authority.
It will be good if our youths can be bold enough to tell our politicians that enough is enough. We are tired of being used as thugs and ballot snatchers.
When corruption politicians use money appropriated for roads and schools to build mansions, they must not Gree for them. We must be able to rise up and say no to slavery and hunger and tribalism.
What annoys me about Nigeria is misdirected aggression. Two poor men fighting over nothing instead of facing those who put them in the mess, they will be shouting, I no go gree for you this year. Lunacy.
You will see two policemen in fisticuffs threatening each other over sharing formula. That to me is a wrong way of expressing that slogan. Let us learn to live in peace amongst our friends, families and in our communities.
Your marriage will break this year if you take this slogan for all it is worth and put it into dealings with your husband or wife. Relationship is about patience and understanding and playing the fool sometimes. Don’t read meanings into everything your partner says and do not allow your friends to advise you wrongly. I overheard two women talking yesterday morning, I was minding my own business, and the other was shouting, will I close my ears?
” no mind that my yeye husband, him think say I be mumu. I done dey look am all these years, I no go Gree for am this year.”
Hmm. From the look on the face of the other woman, she was taking in, hook, line and sinker everything her friend was saying…and you know what that means. She too no go Gree for her husband again this year.
That is wahala loading.
Also, between brothers and sisters and friends. Please continue to show love and understanding, and patience. Don’t drive away your loved ones because you think they have been taking the peace for so long. Forgive, overlook…show much love…take the high road. Loneliness is a killer. Overlook the shortcomings of your dear friends and family this year.
The people we all must learn to say no to, are those who have made our commonwealth their family heritage. To all such people, We Must Not Gree this year. They must account to us how they spend our money. We must demand proof of performance. Tell them you won’t sell your votes again for peanuts.
If indeed, we all refuse to Gree for public office holders from top to bottom, Nigeria will be a better place for us all. They will no longer take us for granted. They will be afraid to steal our money without second thought

Me, I have started. You too start, but no go find soldier trouble ooh. Ask the Lastma people, dem go beat shege banza comot for your body. Soldier matter needs plenty of patience ooh. Lool.
Can you imagine ?Even the Defense Headquarters has this morning called on Nigerians not to gree for terrorists this year. Are we expected to confront them with bare hands?
This war is total. No Gree for anybody This year.
