A Plea for Fairness: APC Must Give Gov Ademola Adeleke a Breather to Govern Osun State

By; Al Humphrey Onyanabo

In the aftermath of the Governorship elections in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to be finding it difficult to come to terms with their loss to Mr. Ademola Adeleke. Since assuming office, Adeleke has faced relentless criticism from the APC and its supporters, who question his every move and attempt to discredit his leadership. This article aims to shed light on the need for the APC to give Ademola Adeleke a fair chance to govern, free from unjust scrutiny, and emphasize the importance of letting the democratic process play out naturally.

Accepting the Outcome of a Democratic Process:

In a democratic society, the will of the people must be respected, regardless of political affiliation. Adeleke’s victory in the Governorship elections reflects the choice made by the majority of voters, and it is essential for the APC and its supporters to embrace this reality. Engaging in constant criticism and dragging Adeleke’s every action is a disservice to the democratic process and undermines the legitimacy of the electoral system.

Focusing on Good Governance:

It is crucial for the APC to shift their focus towards advocating for good governance and holding public officials accountable, rather than incessantly targeting Adeleke. Constructive critique and constructive dialogue are essential in promoting transparency, efficient service delivery, and overall development in Osun State. By redirecting their energy towards positive engagement, the party can encourage Adeleke to fulfill his responsibilities effectively.

Promoting Unity and Stability:

Endless political battles hinder unity and stability within any state. The continuous targeting of Adeleke may only perpetuate division and hinder collective progress. It is important for the APC, as a responsible opposition party, to promote unity and work towards the common goal of advancing the welfare of the people of Osun State. Constructive engagement and support will ultimately benefit the entire state by fostering an environment conducive to growth and development.

Allowing Adeleke Room to Perform:

Everyone deserves a fair chance to prove their capabilities and fulfill their promises. Adeleke should be given the opportunity to demonstrate his leadership skills and deliver on his campaign promises without unnecessary obstacles. If he fails to live up to expectations, the next elections will provide an opportunity for the people of Osun State to voice their concerns through their votes. Trusting in the democratic process will ensure that the true voice of the people is heard.

Reflecting on Hypocrisy
The comparison between the treatment of Adeleke and the tolerance shown towards Governor Akeredolu’s absence from office highlights a potential double standard within the APC. It is crucial for the party to reflect on their actions and ensure consistency in their criticisms and demands. Fairness and equality must be principles upheld by all political parties to foster a healthy democratic system.

The APC must move beyond their disappointment over the Governorship elections and embrace the democratic process. Ademola Adeleke deserves a fair chance to lead Osun State, and constant criticism only serves to undermine the democratic values that underpin our society. By giving Adeleke the space to govern effectively, the opposition party can play a more constructive role in promoting good governance, fostering unity, and ultimately achieving the collective welfare of the people of Osun State.

Please, I beg you APC guys in Osun State, cut the Governor some slack. Go and face other matters while he governs, stop demonizing him. It won’t work.
