Abuja residents suffer as scarcity of naira notes persists, CBN under fire for incompetence

Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, is currently experiencing a scarcity of naira notes, leaving residents stranded and frustrated. Despite the Central Bank of Nigeria’s assurance that it had enough naira notes to meet the demands of the people, it appears that the situation is far from being resolved.
For days, banks in Abuja have only been disbursing small amounts of money across the counter. People are only able to withdraw 10,000 to 20,000 naira, which is barely enough to meet their daily needs. The situation is even worse with the ATMs, which are often empty, leaving people with no option but to queue up for hours at banks.
To make matters worse, some unscrupulous POS operators have taken advantage of the situation by selling naira notes at exorbitant rates. This has only added to the frustration of the residents who are already struggling to make ends meet.

It is reminiscent of the Emiefele era when the naira reprint saga lasted, and the people were left to suffer. It seems that history is repeating itself, and the people of Abuja are paying the price for the incompetence of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The CBN must take responsibility for this lapse and find a solution to the scarcity of naira notes in Abuja. The people are being put through unnecessary stress, and it is unacceptable. The CBN must ensure that there is an adequate supply of naira notes to meet the demands of the people and prevent this from happening again. The people deserve better, and it is time for the CBN to step up and do their job.
