Beware of Fake Food and Drink Products this Festive Season: A Call to Action for Consumers and Regulatory Agencies to Combat Adulteration.

The festive season is upon us once again, and as usual, there is an increase in the demand for various food and drink products. Unfortunately, this also means that there is a rise in the incidence of faking and adulteration of popular and expensive alcoholic beverages and other mass consumer mass market food products. This act of lunacy is perpetrated by heartless businessmen who are only interested in making easy money, without any regard for the health and well-being of their consumers.
It is disheartening to note that these unscrupulous businessmen are willing to go to any length to make a profit, even at the expense of human lives. They engage in the production and sale of fake and adulterated products, which are harmful to the human body, yet they continue to do it without any sense of remorse. This is not only a violation of consumer rights, but it is also a criminal offense that should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
Consumers, on their part, must be more vigilant when buying products this season. They must ensure that they purchase products from reputable sources and check the labels for authenticity. It is also essential to be wary of unusually low prices, as these may indicate that the product is fake or adulterated.
Regulatory agencies like NAFDAC and SON must also up their game to save lives and bring the culprits to justice. They must intensify their efforts in monitoring the production, distribution, and sale of food and drink products, especially during the festive season. They must also work closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of this criminal act are arrested and prosecuted.
As citizens, we all must be extra vigilant. Most of the fakery is done in homes all around us by people like us at odd hours. If your neighbor is almost moving cartoons in and out and you perceive smells that you can not account for, report to the authorities. You might be helping to save a life. Fake and substandard products harm Humanity, the economy and the environment. We must not tolerate them amongst us. They are evil and an act of absolute lunacy.
